FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS BY PARENTS APPLYING FOR SUBSIDIZED CHILD CARE

Question:
What are the general eligibility requirements?

Answer:
  • Parent/Caretaker must work at least 20 hours per week—up to 10 training hours can be included in the 20 hour work week
  • You meet the income guidelines (200% FPIG)
  • You have children less than 13 years of age
  • You must pay a portion on your child care costs (co-payment)
  • Must be a Greene, Fayette, Washington or Westmoreland County resident (Note: If a Parent/Caretaker resides in a different county, they must apply in that county. )


Question:
What are the Income Guidelines?
Reportable income includes all earned and unearned. An example of unearned income is social security benefits or child support payments.

Question:
How will a parent know if they are eligible?

Answer:
After an application is processed, a letter will be mailed stating that the parent is eligible or not eligible for subsidized funding.

If determined eligible and no funds are available, a No Funds Available letter will be mailed stating the child/ren is on the waitlist.

When funds become available, the parent will be contacted by phone and a Funds Available letter will be mailed to the parent instructing them to contact the office to schedule a personal interview.

Answer, Provide one of the following for each family member:
    • Birth certificates for each child
    • Custody orders for your children
    • Medical records (must include your child's address)
    • Written statements from a physician (must include your child's address)
    • School records (must include your child's address)
    • Marriage license
    • Driver’s license
    • Driver’s license address change card (with current address)
